Looking for a therapist in Ontario? Meet Kylie Smith, Registered Psychotherapist specializing in anxiety, grief, postpartum mental health, ADHD, and major life transitions. About Meet Kylie Registered Psychotherapist and owner of TTYL Psychotherapy Welcome! My journey has been one of self-discovery, resilience, and growth, all of which have deeply influenced my approach to therapy. Like many, I’ve navigated my own mental health challenges, and my path has included the complexities of a late-life diagnosis, the transformative experiences of pregnancy and postpartum, and the joys and challenges of parenthood. Along the way, I’ve also faced profound grief, loss, and trauma—but through it all, I’ve found opportunities for incredible growth and connection. Through my experiences, I’ve come to believe there’s always room for healing, growth, and thriving at any stage of life. It’s my hope to inspire others to embrace their stories, celebrate their growth, and find their way to a life filled with meaning and possibility. I deeply connect with those who see themselves as "late bloomers"—individuals who feel lost, stuck, or uncertain about their purpose and direction. I hold space for those who feel held back from living the life they desire, perhaps they are dealing with a loss, navigating new challenges or life transitions, often feeling alone. Whether you're grappling with profound grief, frustration over the past, or just beginning to cultivate self-awareness—of yourself, your behaviors, habits, and relationships—know that you’re not alone. Maybe you're ready to dive fully into the therapeutic process and embrace personal growth, or perhaps you're just starting to explore the idea of therapy and opening up. Wherever you are on your journey, I’m so glad you’re here. My goal is to support and guide you through life’s challenges and transformations at your own pace, helping you forge a path that feels authentic, empowering, and uniquely yours. Experience Professional Journey As a dedicated psychotherapist, I bring valuable experience, training, and specialized expertise in grief and bereavement, as well as perinatal mental health (pregnancy and postpartum). My passion for these areas is deeply rooted in personal experiences, inspiring me to offer meaningful support to others through compassionate care and psychoeducational resources that enhance mental health awareness and reduce the stigma surrounding seeking help. I strive to create a safe, empathetic space where clients feel comfortable exploring their emotions and thoughts. Beyond my private practice, I volunteer with Postpartum Support International (PSI) as an online support group facilitator, providing free mood support for mothers navigating the challenges of pregnancy and postpartum. - Walk & Talk Therapy in Barrie | TTYL Psychotherapy
Looking for Walk & Talk Therapy in Barrie? Experience counselling outdoors in a relaxed, supportive environment. Serving Barrie, Simcoe County, and surrounding communities. Outdoor Counselling in Barrie, Simcoe County & Surrounding Areas Sometimes the Best Conversations Happen While Walking Therapy doesn't always have to happen in an office. For many people, walking side by side outdoors feels more natural than sitting face-to-face in a traditional therapy setting. The gentle rhythm of walking, fresh air, and connection with nature can create a calming environment that makes it easier to process emotions, explore challenges, and gain new perspectives. At TTYL Psychotherapy, I offer Walk & Talk Therapy in Barrie, Ontario for adults looking for a different approach to counselling. Sessions take place in carefully selected outdoor locations that provide privacy, accessibility, and opportunities to connect with nature while engaging in meaningful conversation. Whether you're navigating anxiety, grief, stress, burnout, ADHD, relationship challenges, or a major life transition, Walk & Talk Therapy offers a supportive space where both movement and conversation work together to promote healing. If traditional office therapy has never felt like the right fit—or if you're simply looking for a different way to engage in therapy—Walk & Talk sessions may be exactly what you're looking for. What is Walk & Talk Therapy? Walk & Talk Therapy is exactly what it sounds like. Instead of meeting in an office, we meet outdoors and walk together while talking through whatever feels most important to you. The therapy itself remains the same. Our conversations are confidential, collaborative, and guided by your goals. The difference is the environment. Many clients find that walking side by side reduces pressure, helps thoughts flow more naturally, and creates a sense of ease that can be difficult to achieve indoors. Others simply appreciate spending time outside while caring for both their physical and emotional wellbeing. Why Choose Walk & Talk Therapy? There are many reasons people choose outdoor therapy. Some clients enjoy being active during their sessions, while others find nature calming and restorative. For many, it simply feels easier to talk while walking than while sitting across from someone. Walk & Talk Therapy may be a good fit if you: Feel restless sitting still for long periods Think more clearly while moving Enjoy spending time outdoors Feel anxious in traditional office settings Want to reduce stress through movement There is no "right" way to participate in therapy. The goal is to find an approach that feels comfortable and supportive for you. Appreciate nature as part of your self-care routine Are navigating grief or major life changes Live with ADHD and find movement improves focus Feel emotionally "stuck" and want to try a different approach Prefer a relaxed, less formal therapy experience What Can Walk & Talk Therapy Help With? Walk & Talk Therapy can be beneficial for many of the same concerns addressed in traditional counselling. Common reasons clients seek outdoor therapy include: Anxiety Depression Grief and loss Stress management Burnout Life transitions Career changes ADHD Women's mental health Perfectionism Self-esteem Relationship challenges Caregiver stress Emotional overwhelm Personal growth Whether you're processing a difficult experience or simply wanting to better understand yourself, therapy offers space to reflect, heal, and move forward. Alongside therapy, many clients find these practices helpful: Spending regular time outdoors Gentle movement such as walking or stretching Mindfulness and grounding exercises Connecting with supportive friends or family Prioritizing rest and sleep Journaling Limiting overwhelm by setting realistic expectations Participating in community recreation programs around Barrie and Simcoe County Therapy is one part of a holistic approach to caring for your mental health. What to Expect During a Session Your comfort and safety are always a priority. Before beginning Walk & Talk Therapy, we'll discuss whether outdoor counselling is a good fit for your needs. Sessions typically include: Meeting at a pre-arranged outdoor location in Barrie Walking at a pace that feels comfortable for you Pausing whenever needed Taking breaks if desired Adapting the session based on weather and accessibility needs There is no expectation that we walk quickly or continuously. Some sessions involve frequent pauses, sitting on benches, or simply standing while talking. The focus remains on the therapeutic conversation—not the distance covered. Confidentiality During Outdoor Therapy A common question is whether Walk & Talk Therapy is confidential. As a registered psychotherapist, protecting your privacy is a priority. Before your first outdoor session, we'll review informed consent and discuss the unique considerations of meeting in public spaces. This includes: Choosing quieter walking routes whenever possible Deciding together how to respond if we encounter someone you know Maintaining your confidentiality at all times Ensuring you understand both the benefits and limitations of outdoor therapy If at any point Walk & Talk Therapy no longer feels comfortable, we can transition to in-office or virtual sessions. Serving Barrie, Simcoe County & Surrounding Communities Walk & Talk Therapy is available in carefully selected outdoor locations throughout Barrie, Ontario. Clients from across Simcoe County, including nearby communities, are welcome. If weather conditions make outdoor sessions unsafe or uncomfortable, virtual therapy or indoor appointments can be arranged whenever appropriate. Take the First Step Sometimes healing doesn't begin with having all the answers. Sometimes it begins with simply taking a walk. If you're looking for a more relaxed, collaborative approach to counselling, Walk & Talk Therapy may offer the space you've been searching for. Whether you're navigating anxiety, grief, ADHD, burnout, or a major life transition, you don't have to do it alone. Together, we'll create a supportive environment where you can slow down, reflect, and move toward the life you want—one step at a time. If you're interested in Walk & Talk Therapy in Barrie, Simcoe County, or the surrounding area, I'd be honoured to support you. Contact me today to book a free consultation or schedule your first session. Frequently Asked Questions What happens if it rains? Your comfort and safety are important. If weather conditions are poor, we'll discuss alternative options, including rescheduling or meeting virtually. Do I need to be physically fit? Walk & Talk Therapy is designed to be accessible for a wide range of abilities. Sessions move at your pace, and we can stop, sit, or shorten the route whenever needed. What should I wear? Comfortable walking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing are recommended. We'll discuss meeting locations and any specific recommendations before your appointment. Is Walk & Talk Therapy covered by insurance? Can we switch between outdoor and virtual therapy? If your extended health benefits cover services provided by a Registered Psychotherapist, Walk & Talk Therapy is generally covered in the same way as traditional therapy sessions. Please check with your insurance provider regarding your specific plan. Absolutely. Some clients prefer a combination of Walk & Talk Therapy, virtual sessions, and indoor appointments depending on their needs, schedules, and the season. - Therapy for High-Performing Women | TTYL Psychotherapy
Feeling overwhelmed by work, parenting, and the mental load? Compassionate therapy for high-performing women in Barrie, Simcoe County, and across Ontario. Virtual counselling available. Therapy for High-Performing Women in Ontario Support for Burnout, Anxiety, the Mental Load & Life's Many Demands You Can Be Capable and Still Feel Completely Overwhelmed From the outside, it may look like you're managing it all. You meet deadlines. You care for your family. You remember the appointments, organize the schedules, answer the emails, keep everyone else on track, and somehow continue showing up at work with a smile. People often describe you as capable, dependable, organized, or someone who "has it all together." What they don't always see is what it takes to hold everything together. The constant mental checklist. The invisible planning. The emotional labour. The pressure to be everything to everyone. If you're feeling exhausted, anxious, emotionally drained, or like you've lost yourself beneath the weight of everyone else's needs, you're not alone. At TTYL Psychotherapy, I provide therapy for high-performing women in Barrie, Simcoe County, and across Ontario who are navigating burnout, anxiety, perfectionism, career demands, motherhood, and the invisible mental load of everyday life. You don't have to wait until you're completely burned out before asking for support. When Success Comes at a Cost Many of the women I work with are accomplished professionals, business owners, healthcare workers, educators, leaders, and mothers. They are used to being the person others rely on. Yet behind the scenes, they often feel: Constantly overwhelmed Emotionally exhausted Pulled in too many directions Guilty for never doing "enough" Anxious about forgetting something Mentally "on" all the time Responsible for everyone else's needs Disconnected from themselves Unsure how much longer they can keep going at this pace You don't have to be falling apart for your struggles to be real. Sometimes the people who appear to be coping the best are carrying the heaviest mental load. Understanding the Mental Load The mental load is more than having a busy schedule. It's the invisible work of constantly anticipating, remembering, planning, organizing, managing, and worrying about everything that keeps a household, family, and career running. It's remembering birthdays. Scheduling medical appointments. Planning meals. Knowing when the kids have spirit day. Keeping track of groceries. Managing finances. Thinking ahead to next week's deadlines while responding to today's emails. Even when tasks are shared, many women continue carrying the responsibility of making sure everything gets done. Over time, this invisible labour can contribute to chronic stress, anxiety, resentment, and burnout. Burnout Isn't Just About Work Burnout is often associated with demanding careers, but many women experience burnout from the cumulative weight of multiple responsibilities. You may be managing: A demanding career Parenting young children or teenagers Caring for aging parents Household responsibilities Financial stress Relationship challenges Community commitments Volunteer work Emotional caregiving for everyone around you Eventually, there is very little energy left for yourself. Burnout can leave you feeling emotionally numb, irritable, disconnected, or like you're simply surviving each day. Read More Anxiety in High-Performing Women High achievers often become exceptionally skilled at pushing through discomfort. From the outside, anxiety may look like productivity. Inside, it can feel very different. You may constantly replay conversations, overthink decisions, worry about making mistakes, or feel responsible for preventing problems before they happen. Others may see confidence. Therapy can help you understand these patterns with compassion while developing healthier ways of responding to stress. Perfectionism and the Pressure to Do It All Many women have learned—often from a young age—that being successful means being helpful, capable, and endlessly productive. Over time, this can create unrealistic expectations. You might believe: I should be able to handle everything. Asking for help means I'm failing. If I slow down, everything will fall apart. My worth depends on how much I accomplish. These beliefs are incredibly common, but they can also be exhausting. Together, we'll explore where these expectations come from and how to create a life that feels more sustainable, balanced, and aligned with your values. Signs You May Be Experiencing Burnout Burnout doesn't happen overnight. It often develops gradually as chronic stress continues without enough opportunity for rest and recovery. You may notice: Constant fatigue Difficulty concentrating Increased anxiety Feeling emotionally detached Trouble relaxing Many women tell me they keep waiting for life to "slow down." Often, it doesn't. Learning how to care for yourself within the life you have is one of the greatest gifts therapy can offer. Perfectionism Difficulty saying no Feeling guilty when resting Reduced patience with loved ones Feeling like you've lost yourself Poor sleep Irritability Brain fog Loss of motivation Frequent overwhelm How Therapy Can Help Therapy offers a space where you don't have to take care of anyone else for a while. Together, we can work on: Managing anxiety Preventing or recovering from burnout Setting healthy boundaries Reducing perfectionism Coping with chronic stress Navigating career challenges Managing the mental load Improving communication in relationships Strengthening self-compassion Reconnecting with your identity outside of work and caregiving Creating realistic expectations for yourself Developing practical coping strategies Our work is collaborative, personalized, and grounded in evidence-based therapeutic approaches. There is no expectation that you should become a "perfectly balanced" person. The goal is to help you build a life that feels more manageable, meaningful, and sustainable. Supporting Women in Barrie, Simcoe County & Across Ontario I work with women in Barrie, throughout Simcoe County, and across Ontario through secure virtual therapy. Whether you're balancing board meetings, daycare pickups, aging parents, or all of the above, therapy can fit into your life. Frequently Asked Questions Do I have to be in crisis to start therapy? - Grief Counselling | TTYL Psychotherapy
Grief counselling in Barrie, Simcoe County, and across Ontario. Compassionate virtual therapy to help you navigate loss, bereavement, and life transitions. Grief Counselling Compassionate Grief Therapy in Barrie, Simcoe County & Across Ontario You Don't Have to Carry Your Grief Alone Grief changes us. Whether you've experienced the death of someone you love, the end of an important relationship, pregnancy or infant loss, the loss of a beloved pet, changes in your health, or another significant life transition, grief can leave you feeling like the world continues moving while yours has come to a standstill. At TTYL Psychotherapy, I provide compassionate, evidence-informed grief counselling in Ontario for adults navigating loss and life's most difficult transitions. I support clients in Barrie, ON, throughout Simcoe County, and across Ontario through secure virtual therapy. Grief is not something we "get over." Instead, we gradually learn how to carry it in a way that allows us to reconnect with life while continuing to honour what or who we have lost. You deserve a space where every emotion is welcome, where you don't have to protect others from your pain, and where you can move through grief at your own pace. There is No One 'Right' Way to Grieve One of the greatest misconceptions about grief is that it follows a predictable timeline. In reality, grief is deeply personal. Some days you may feel relatively steady. Other days, even months or years later, grief can return unexpectedly after hearing a song, visiting a familiar place, celebrating a holiday, or reaching a milestone you wish you could have shared with someone you love. Many people worry they're grieving "incorrectly" because their emotions feel inconsistent. The truth is that grief rarely follows a straight path. You might experience: Deep sadness Anger Guilt Loneliness Emotional exhaustion Sometimes these feelings appear one at a time. Sometimes they exist all at once. Whatever your experience looks like, it deserves compassion rather than judgment. Anxiety Fear Numbness Disbelief Confusion Relief Gratitude Difficulty concentrating Understanding Grief Grief is our natural response to loss. Although it is most often associated with death, grief can arise after many different life experiences, including: The death of a spouse, partner, parent, sibling, child, friend, or family member Pregnancy loss or infertility Divorce or separation The end of an important relationship Pet loss Chronic illness or disability Loss of independence Retirement Career changes Moving away from family or community Caregiver burnout Traumatic experiences Changes in identity or life roles Every loss is significant because it represents something meaningful that mattered to you. Our Services Why Grief Can Feel So Overwhelming Loss affects far more than our emotions. Research shows grief can also impact: Sleep Memory Concentration Appetite Energy Physical health Relationships Work performance Motivation Decision-making Many people are surprised by how physically exhausting grief can feel. You may find yourself forgetting appointments, struggling to focus, feeling emotionally numb, or becoming overwhelmed by tasks that once felt manageable. These experiences are common responses to profound loss. Signs You May Benefit from Grief Counselling Everyone grieves differently, and there is no timeline for seeking support. You may find therapy helpful if you are experiencing: Persistent sadness Feeling emotionally stuck Difficulty accepting your loss Anxiety or panic Isolation Guilt or self-blame Anger Trouble sleeping Relationship challenges Feeling disconnected from others Loss of purpose Difficulty returning to daily routines Overwhelming stress Significant life changes following a loss Seeking support does not mean your grief is "too much." It simply means you no longer want to carry it alone. Grief and Life Transitions Sometimes grief is connected to changes that are not immediately recognized as losses. Many people grieve: Becoming an empty nester Fertility struggles Pregnancy complications A difficult birth experience A major health diagnosis Losing a career Retirement Children growing older Aging parents Financial changes Dreams or expectations that no longer feel possible These experiences can bring genuine grief, even when others may not understand. Therapy provides space to acknowledge those losses without minimizing them. How Grief Therapy Can Help Grief therapy is not about helping you forget someone you love. It is about helping you find ways to live alongside your grief while caring for your emotional wellbeing. During counselling, we may explore: Processing painful emotions Understanding your unique grief experience Managing anxiety and overwhelm Coping with anniversaries and important dates Navigating family dynamics after a loss Rebuilding routines Addressing feelings of guilt or regret Exploring changes in identity Strengthening coping skills Finding ways to maintain meaningful connections with loved ones while moving forward Our work together is collaborative and tailored to your individual needs. There is no expectation that you should be "finished grieving." My Approach to Grief Counselling I believe grief deserves gentleness. Rather than trying to "fix" your emotions, we'll work together to understand them. My approach is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and evidence-informed therapeutic practices. Together, we'll create a space where you can speak openly about your loss without feeling rushed or pressured to move on. Some sessions may involve processing painful memories. Others may focus on practical coping strategies, rebuilding routines, strengthening relationships, or learning how to care for yourself while grieving. There is no right way to grieve, and there is no expectation that your journey will look like anyone else's. Grief Counselling in Barrie, Simcoe County & Across Ontario I proudly support clients in Barrie, throughout Simcoe County, and across Ontario through secure virtual counselling. Virtual therapy offers flexibility and privacy, allowing you to attend sessions from the comfort of your home. Many clients appreciate having a familiar space to return to after emotionally challenging conversations. Whether your loss is recent or occurred years ago, it is never too late to seek support. Frequently Asked Questions How soon after a loss should I start therapy? There is no right timeline. Some people seek support immediately, while others reach out months or years later. Therapy can be beneficial whenever you feel ready. Is it normal for grief to come in waves? Yes. Many people notice grief becomes more intense around anniversaries, birthdays, holidays, or unexpected reminders. These waves are a common part of the grieving process. Will therapy make me forget the person I lost? No. Therapy is not about forgetting. It is about helping you carry your grief with greater support while continuing to honour your relationship and memories. Can grief affect my physical health? Yes. Research has shown that grief can affect sleep, energy, concentration, appetite, and overall wellbeing. Caring for your emotional health is an important part of caring for your physical health. Looking for ADHD therapy for women in Ontario? Compassionate counselling for adult women navigating ADHD, late-life diagnosis, anxiety, burnout, and overwhelm. Serving Barrie, Simcoe County, and clients across Ontario. ADHD Therapy for Women in Ontario Compassionate Support for Women Navigating ADHD, Overwhelm & Late-Life Diagnosis Maybe You've Always Felt Like Life Was Harder Than It Seemed for Everyone Else You've always worked incredibly hard just to keep up. You rely on lists, calendars, reminders, and alarms—but still worry you'll forget something important. You start projects with excitement, only to lose momentum halfway through. You replay conversations in your mind, struggle to prioritize, and often feel mentally exhausted before the day has even begun. From the outside, people may describe you as successful, capable, or organized. Inside, it can feel like you're constantly working twice as hard just to stay afloat. For many women, these experiences are not a reflection of laziness, lack of motivation, or poor time management. They may be signs of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)—a condition that has historically been under recognized in women and girls. At [Your Practice Name], I provide ADHD therapy for women in Ontario, supporting clients in Barrie, Simcoe County, and across Ontario through secure virtual counselling. Whether you've recently been diagnosed, suspect you may have ADHD, or have spent years wondering why everything feels harder than it should, therapy can help you better understand yourself, build practical strategies, and move forward with greater confidence and self-compassion. ADHD Often Looks Different in Women For many years, ADHD research focused primarily on boys who displayed noticeable hyperactive behaviours. As a result, countless girls and women went unnoticed because their ADHD looked different. Instead of climbing on furniture or interrupting class, many women learned to mask their struggles by becoming perfectionists, overachievers, people-pleasers, or chronic worriers. They often appeared to be coping well, while privately working incredibly hard to manage daily life. Common experiences include: Constant mental overwhelm Forgetting appointments or deadlines Difficulty prioritizing tasks Feeling easily distracted Procrastination Starting many projects but struggling to finish them Emotional sensitivity Many women spend years believing these struggles reflect a personal failure rather than a neurodevelopmental difference. They don't. Racing thoughts Chronic disorganization despite best efforts Difficulty managing time Feeling "behind" no matter how hard you work Anxiety about letting others down Perfectionism Burnout from masking or overcompensating The Experience of a Late ADHD Diagnosis Many women are first diagnosed with ADHD in adulthood. Some seek an assessment after their child receives a diagnosis and begin recognizing the same patterns in themselves. Others notice increasing difficulties as life becomes more demanding through university, career advancement, parenthood, perimenopause, or other significant life transitions. Receiving a diagnosis later in life can bring many emotions. Relief. Validation. Sadness. Grief. Anger. Confusion. Hope. You may find yourself looking back and wondering: Why did no one notice? What would life have been like if I had known sooner? Was I really struggling this whole time? Why have I always felt different? These are common questions. Therapy provides space to process these emotions while helping you build a more compassionate understanding of yourself ADHD Is More Than Difficulty Paying Attention ADHD affects many aspects of daily life beyond concentration. Women often describe challenges with: Executive Functioning Task Initiation Forgetfulness Maintaining Routines Relationship Conflict Emotional Regulation Decision Fatigue Prioritization Self-esteem Parenting Demands Time Management Mental Clutter Impulse Spending Burnout Workplace Organization These challenges can become especially overwhelming when combined with careers, caregiving, relationships, and the invisible mental load many women already carry. The Link Between ADHD and Burnout Many women with ADHD are initially treated for anxiety because chronic stress and worry are so common. Living with undiagnosed ADHD often means years of overcompensating, masking difficulties, and fearing you'll forget something important or disappoint someone. Over time, this constant mental effort can contribute to: Anxiety Perfectionism Chronic stress Low self-esteem Burnout Depression Emotional exhaustion Understanding the role ADHD may play can help make sense of experiences that once felt confusing or isolating. ADHD, Motherhood & the Mental Load Motherhood can intensify ADHD symptoms. Managing school schedules, appointments, household responsibilities, meals, work deadlines, and family life requires significant executive functioning skills. Many mothers with ADHD describe feeling like they are constantly juggling too many balls at once. You may love your family deeply while also feeling overwhelmed by the never-ending demands of daily life. Therapy can help you develop strategies that support your unique brain while reducing shame and unrealistic expectations. How ADHD Therapy Can Help Therapy for ADHD isn't about becoming perfectly organized or productive. It's about understanding how your brain works and finding practical, sustainable strategies that fit your life. Together, we may focus on: Reducing shame and self-criticism Managing anxiety and overwhelm Developing executive functioning strategies Improving time management Creating realistic routines Managing emotional regulation Understanding ADHD through a compassionate, strengths-based lens Rather than trying harder, we'll work on finding approaches that work with your brain rather than against it. Although ADHD presents genuine challenges, it can also come with strengths. Many women with ADHD are: Creative Curious Compassionate Innovative Resilient Therapy isn't about changing who you are. It's about reducing the barriers that prevent your strengths from shining. Addressing perfectionism Building self-confidence Strengthening communication in relationships Navigating work and career challenges Coping with burnout Supporting identity after a late diagnosis Intuitive Energetic Excellent problem-solvers Passionate learners ADHD Therapy in Barrie, Simcoe County & Across Ontario I work with women in Barrie, throughout Simcoe County, and across Ontario through secure virtual counselling. Whether you've recently received a diagnosis, are considering an assessment, or simply recognize yourself in many of these experiences, you are welcome here. Therapy offers a supportive space to better understand yourself without judgment. Frequently Asked Questions Do I need a formal ADHD diagnosis to begin therapy? No. Many women begin therapy because they suspect they may have ADHD or identify with common symptoms. While therapy cannot provide a formal diagnosis, it can help you explore your experiences, develop coping strategies, and discuss whether pursuing an assessment may be helpful. Can therapy replace medication? Why are so many women diagnosed later in life? Is ADHD linked to anxiety? Medication can be an effective treatment for many people with ADHD, but it isn't the only option. Therapy can help you develop practical skills, improve emotional regulation, reduce shame, and better understand how ADHD affects your daily life. Many women benefit from a combination of therapy, education, lifestyle strategies, and, when appropriate, medication prescribed by a physician or psychiatrist. Research suggests that ADHD in girls and women often presents differently than in boys. Many women develop strong coping strategies and mask their difficulties, making symptoms less noticeable until the demands of adulthood, parenthood, or career responsibilities become overwhelming. Yes. Many women with ADHD also experience anxiety. Constantly working to stay organized, meet expectations, and avoid mistakes can contribute to chronic stress and worry. Therapy can help address both ADHD-related challenges and anxiety together. You Are Not Lazy. You Are Not Failing. If you've spent years believing you simply needed to try harder, you're not alone. Many women with ADHD have internalized messages that they are disorganized, forgetful, too emotional, or not living up to their potential. The reality is often very different. When you understand how your brain works, you can begin replacing self-criticism with self-compassion and develop strategies that truly support your wellbeing. Whether you're newly diagnosed, exploring the possibility of ADHD, or simply feeling overwhelmed by the demands of everyday life, therapy can help. If you're looking for ADHD therapy for women in Barrie, Simcoe County, or anywhere in Ontario, I'd be honoured to support you. Book a free consultation today and take the first step toward understanding yourself with greater clarity, confidence, and compassion.
